SUUNTO Woodsman A-30L Navigation Orienteering Compass

Suunto A-30L Woodsman is a reliable baseplate compass for navigating, orienteering, and surviving in extreme conditions. This Suunto Woodsman A-30 L comes with both inches and centimeter markings. At Alaskan Survival Gear, we suggest combining this compass with a USGS UTM 1:24,000 protractor for accurate navigation plotting using USGS topographical maps on a 1:24,000 scale. In short, your map and protractor must match. We absolutely love this Suunto compass. The magnifying glass comes in handy when topo lines get tight. The compass has silky smooth movement and tolerates a fair amount of horizontal angle when mapping. It is extremely light giving us no reason to leave it behind. The bezel is glow-in-the-dark which helps us locate it quickly in our bag (sure, it’s supposed to help with night navigation but that’s what we use chemlights for).
